ASUS Zenfone 10 SIM Card Reader Replacement Guide
If your ASUS Zenfone 10 can’t read SIM cards, don’t panic!
This step-by-step guide will walk you through replacing the SIM reader sub-board and getting your phone back to working perfectly.
🧰 Tools You’ll Need
-
PolarTech Magic Self-Heating Pad (or a regular heat source)
- Polar Tech Phone Repair Toolkit (Suction cup, Tweezers, Spudger, Precision screwdriver set)
⚙️ Step-by-Step Repair Guide
Step 1: Remove the Back Cover 🛠️
-
use the PolarTech Magic Self-Heating Pad to heat the back cover for about 10 minutes to soften the adhesive.
-
Use a thin blade to create a small gap between the back cover and the frame, and drop a bit of alcohol into the gap to weaken the adhesive.
-
Carefully slide a plastic pick around the edges until the cover comes off.
Don’t worry — the back cover is plastic, so it’s less fragile than glass.
Step 2: Disconnect & Remove Components ⚡
-
Unscrew all 15 screws holding the brackets in place
Tip: This is a shorter screw on the top, so keep it separate.
-
Remove the motherboard bracket.
-
Always disconnect the battery BTB first for safety.
-
Take out the sub-board bracket (this piece also acts as the loudspeaker module).
-
Remove the SIM tray before pulling out the old SIM reader board.
Step 3: Install the New SIM Reader Sub-Board 🔧
-
Use tweezers to push the small latch back on the frame before installing the new board.
-
Slide the bottom of the new sub-board in first, then snap the connectors into place.
-
Reattach the sub-board bracket and reconnect the battery BTB.
Double-check all connectors are secure.
Step 4: Test Before Sealing ✅
-
Reinstall the motherboard bracket and screw everything back down.
-
Plug in the charger, power on the phone, and test the SIM card slot.
-
If everything works, snap the back cover on again.
-
For a better seal, clamp the phone for a couple of hours to ensure strong adhesion.
📝 Final Tips
-
Keep your screws organised — one misplaced screw can cause problems later.
-
If the phone still doesn’t read SIM cards after replacement, check for damaged cables or a faulty motherboard.
By following this guide, you can fix your Zenfone 10 SIM reader issue and save money on repairs.
